Summary Description:
Syntiant Corp., a leader in the high-growth AI software and semiconductor solutions space, has acquired a large, multi-national sensor business with global revenues in excess of $250 million per year, and is looking for an experienced and talented Tax Director who will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and tactical direction to the company’s international operations regarding tax provisions, global transfer pricing, global direct and indirect tax compliance, and global tax planning and strategy, among other things.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively manage the U.S. reporting of foreign operations in the Federal tax return filing, including analysis, optimization of filing positions, and documentation of positions taken on tax returns.
- Oversee the accounting for income taxes (i.e., ASC 740) relative to international operations. Coordinate the computation of the worldwide tax provision and ensure compliance with SOX requirements.
- Identify and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s global tax position.
- Lead transfer pricing projects and initiatives, including planning and compliance efforts.
- Manage the international portion of U.S. IRS audits, including interfacing with tax auditors, preparing, and reviewing responses to information requests, and addressing proposed adjustments. Support geographies on any foreign tax audits.
- Collaborate with operating and financial management of the geographies to provide tax input and perspective on operating strategies and tactics.
- Continuously identify tax opportunities and risks in current and long-range business plans and communicate recommendations to business unit management. Serve as a visible resource to business units for dialogue and education on their role in tax strategies.
- Analyze and recommend responses to tax management regarding tax legislation and regulatory changes impacting Syntiant.
- Assist in communicating tax-related projects and strategies to executive management on a periodic basis.
- Partner with third parties, including tax accountants, tax lawyers, valuation specialists, and investment bankers.
- Support treasury on currency, hedging, and cash management programs.
- Ensure effective communication with the Board of Directors and Audit Committee, as necessary.
Requirements
Qualifications, Education, and Experience Required:
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or similar field required.
- CPA or equivalent required.
- Extensive compliance and planning experience in international tax with multinational companies required, preferably with manufacturing operations in Asian markets.
- Experience at a major accounting firm strongly preferred.
- Advanced international tax planning experience related to tax-efficient manufacturing, legal structures, and IP development is a plus.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills with effective relationship-building and influence.
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative and cross-functional organization.
- Strong process orientation; well-structured and well-organized.
- Strong project management, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid financial and business acumen.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and a passion for a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and manage competing priorities with tight deadlines.

One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting base pay for this role is targeted to be between $200,000 and $215,000. Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining Syntiant, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company. It is to be expected that candidates will come to us with different sets of skills and experiences and therefore will be paid at different points in the stated range.
