Family Support Specialist with the S.T.R.O.N.G. – Supporting Togetherness, Recovery, Opportunity, Nurturing, & Growth Program

Location: Sussex county, Delaware (Office locations: Georgetown, DE & Seaford, DE)

Employment Type: Temporary Full-Time

Duration: March 15, 2025 – September 30, 2025

About S.T.R.O.N.G.: S.T.R.O.N.G. – Supporting Togetherness, Recovery, Opportunity, Nurturing, & Growth is a new initiative dedicated to strengthening family relationships and fostering recovery among families impacted by substance use disorders. By implementing the Celebrating Families! program, an evidence-based approach, we aim to enhance family communication, teach effective coping skills, and rebuild trust and stability.

Job Overview: As a Family Support Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of our family-centered support services. This position requires a compassionate and proactive individual who can facilitate family sessions, manage program logistics, and provide consistent support to families on their journey to recovery.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead group and individual sessions following the Celebrating Families! curriculum.
  • Support and engage families throughout the program to maintain a positive and nurturing environment.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for all family needs.
  • Handle logistical aspects of the program, including organizing family dinners and coordinating session materials.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of families, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet their evolving needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in a related field is preferred.
  • Certification as a Peer Support Specialist or willingness to undergo training.
  • Personal or familial experience with substance use recovery is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of families.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
