Backend Engineer

As a Backend Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the AI-driven infrastructure that powers our application processing, document verification, and automated customer interactions. You will design and optimize APIs, integrate machine learning tools, and build scalable systems that handle real-time status updates, automated assistance, and seamless application tracking.

This role requires expertise in Nest.js, database management, and API architecture, as well as the ability to integrate AI-powered workflows that enhance customer experience. You’ll also work on expanding our network integrations, supporting our hand-carry courier marketplace for expedited passport processing and growing vehicle registration partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize APIs to support AI-driven automation.
• Integrate AI-powered workflows to assist customers in document submission, accuracy verification, reminders, and real-time updates.
• Enhance authentication and security to protect sensitive government-related data.
• Build and maintain database systems to ensure high-speed processing.
• Automate backend processes for form automation.
• Deploy and manage AI-enhanced customer support tools, ensuring smooth communication between customers, agencies, and our marketplace partners.
• Monitor and optimize performance, ensuring high availability and reliability of our backend services.
• Develop API integrations with our expanding partner network, streamlining government interactions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to research and integrate new AI-driven services and predictive automation tools.

Requirements

Core Technical Skills

• Experience integrating OpenAI and AWS-based AI tools into backend systems.
• Ability to build AI-powered customer workflows
• Nest.js
• Apollo TypeGraphQL
• Node.js & Express.js
• Postgres, Cosmos DB, AWS EC2
• Auth0, Encrypt, Sentry
  

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with machine learning model deployment
• Familiarity with serverless architectures

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Backend or Full Stack engineer position
• Excellent communication skills
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal
