System Engineer II

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Level 2 Systems Engineer to join our Managed Services team. The Level 2 Systems Engineer will be responsible for executing infrastructure projects, optimizing IT environments, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires expertise in backup technologies such as Commvault, Cohesity, and Veeam, as well as disaster recovery solutions with a focus on Zerto. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, technical acumen, and a commitment to delivering high-quality project-based solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support infrastructure projects, including deployments, migrations, and upgrades.
• On boarding, implementation, and optimization of backup and disaster recovery environments, focusing on Commvault, Cohesity, Veeam, and Zerto.
• Collaborate with clients to assess and improve IT infrastructure, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Perform system performance assessments and recommend optimizations.
• Work closely with Engineering teams to deploy new technologies and improve existing solutions.
• Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for backup, DR, and infrastructure management.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers to enhance their project execution capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with security and data protection policies in all project implementations.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a technical support or engineering role, preferably within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or enterprise environment.
• Strong hands-on experience with backup technologies:
• Commvault, Cohesity, and Veeam.
• Experience with disaster recovery solutions, specifically Zerto.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V.
• Knowledge of cloud environments, including Azure and AWS.
• Understanding of enterprise storage solutions (e.g., Dell/EMC, NetApp).
• Strong networking fundamentals and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as Commvault Certified Engineer, Veeam Certified Engineer, Zerto Certified Professional, or similar.
• ITIL certification or experience in IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks.
• Experience with ITSM tools like Jira Service Management.
• Familiarity with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
