Permanent, full-time, exempt, located in Boston or NYC, remote first. In addition, required to travel 3-4 times per year, at a minimum.
Hack.Diversity seeks an engaging and thoughtful individual to join the organization as Director of Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (REDI) Programs. This person will oversee and scale REDI programming.

Hack.Diversity is transforming the economy by breaking down barriers and building access for the next generation in tech. We recruit and place early-career professionals from marginalized backgrounds into software engineering, data analysis, and mechanical engineering roles at major companies, and work with those companies to build inclusive and equitable working environments. Founded in 2016 as a project of the New England Venture Capital Association, “Hack” has grown into an independent nonprofit organization and a movement of belonging in the tech workplace. As of 2022, we have connected almost 400 Fellows into jobs at more than 50 employers to date. ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Vice President of Programs with a throughline to the Director of People and Culture of Hack.Diversity, the Director of REDI guides our Host Companies’ efforts to build racial equity and develops our internal staff capacity to lead in the same vein.They will continue to ensure that Hack is a provider of choice for tech organizations at ideation, implementation, and growth stages of their organization seeking knowledge, skills and applications for REDI content. As a member of the Hack.Team, the REDI Director will be responsible for designing and implementing best-in-class workshops, events, and case studies for a variety of corporate partners, Fellows and staff—so that all staff are empowered to be champions of racial equity.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Stay abreast of research and practice in the fields of racial equity and workplace inclusion and belonging to ensure that Hack.Diversity staff, partners and Fellows are operating with the latest and best information and insights
- Utilize data and participant feedback to effectively innovate, create, facilitate, and execute content and learning & development events, with a focus on participant feedback and racial equity
- Design and facilitate processes that support the evolution of organizational practices internally and at our partner companies, including: identifying best practices, staff trainings, workshops, coaching, qualitative and quantitative data analysis and reporting, and other professional development geared toward increasing racial equity
- Effectively adapt content to stakeholder specific needs with the purpose of creating impactful change and growth
Requirements
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

- Future team leadership: initially this role will not include direct reports. As the team grows (in one year at minimum), this position will evolve to include the management of 1-2 direct reports
- Interest in customized and personalized content creation
- Passionate about the mission of Hack.Diversity and values of racial equity, diversity, and inclusion (REDI)
- Five to ten years of professional, academic, or volunteer experience in social impact roles or organizations, with progressively increasing responsibility
- Deep understanding of the United States labor market through the lens of history, racial inequity, and politics
- Strong public speaking and facilitation skills; ability to engage diverse audiences and perspectives, quickly convey nuance and speak to systemic issues on both a macro and micro level
- The ability to articulate thoughts and express ideas effectively using oral, written, visual and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to gain understanding
- Strong inquiry mindset and ability to give and receive feedback
- Collaborative nature with team, Fellows, Board and Host Companies understanding we are working towards systemic long term change
- Program design and program evaluation skills
- Strong ability to connect theory with practice and help others do the same
- Flexibility and creativity, with an entrepreneurial mindset and a belief in the mission and vision of Hack.Diversity
- Proficiency with Google Apps, Asana, Zoom, Slack and other remote work applications
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
- Lived experience, ability to relate to our Fellows’ experiences in some way, and/or demonstrated commitment to equity
- Quantitative and/or qualitative research skills
- Expertise via academic, volunteer, or community work in history, sociology, African-American studies, Latinx studies, education, organizational behavior, political science, economics, law, or related discipline
- Experience working within or closely alongside software engineering, data analysis, finance, venture capital, or similar corporate settings
- Strong network of other practitioners in the REDI space
THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
Within 3 months
- Developed rapport and the foundation for trust within Senior Leadership and overall Hack Team.
- Identified a path forward to establish relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
- Created a gap analysis identifying core strengths of REDI programming and opportunities for improvement
Within 6 months
- Based on the foundation of Hack’s culture, created an environment within Hack that generates high engagement in REDI from staff, Fellows and partners
- Connected staff members to professional development to support their REDI journeys
- Built a solid cadence of planning, communication, and execution on REDI programming with relevant staff members
- Established relationships with external and internal stakeholders
- Created 2026 partner REDI programming proposal based on data aggregation, gap analysis, and identified opportunities for improvement per above
Within 12 months
- Measurably improved stakeholder relationships and structure
- Catalyzed change across stakeholders leading to continuous reflection and improvement of processes, tools, and practices
- Shaped the impact and direction of the REDI program

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- $95,000-$140,000 base salary commensurate with experience
- Up to 10% annual performance-based bonus on top of base salary
