About the Role
We are looking for a Manager - Revenue Recognition to lead our Global Revenue Team. We are looking for a motivated individual who will be able to lead a team that supports the quote-to-cash and record-to-report cycles and will have the opportunity to collaborate with leaders across Calabrio to solve complex problems and shape the vision and strategy for the Global Revenue Time. By providing leadership, oversight, and guidance as it relates to revenue recognition, business guidance, and streamlined processes, this individual will help support the Company's ability to sustainably increase growth and profitability. In addition, the Manager - Revenue Recognition will leverage their financial and process acumen to support certain business functions with project coordination, process documentation, financial analysis and accommodating ad-hoc user requests.
About The Team
Calabrio’s Global Revenue Team is responsible for the accuracy for millions of dollars of revenue generated across the world for United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and local statutory reporting via direct and indirect transactions. From SaaS to perpetual to service offerings, our team is responsible for ensuring that each piece of the transaction is properly recorded within the financial statements. As Calabrio expands its offerings, we collaborate closely with our business development and product teams to ensure that our accounting systems are ready to accommodate every new product offering and business initiative. This dynamic and fast-paced environment is fueled by a remarkable team of motivated individuals who share a passion for financial accuracy and excellence. Functional Responsibilities
- Own, establish, implement, and manage all global processes for the accounting of subscription & services revenue, ensuring internal control and operational excellence
- Maintain ownership and accountability for accuracy, timeliness, effectiveness, and efficiency of month-end close, deferred revenue, gross-to-net contra-revenue accruals, accounts receivable, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure contract review and accounting processes follow the company’s documented policies
- Partner with product, engineering, and other Finance teams to understand new business models related to all revenue streams, and design and implement scalable finance operational processes and systems to support the business
- Develop organizational enablement documentation and processes for global Revenue Recognition team.
Compliance & Reporting Responsibilities
- Lead decision making and resolution of revenue-related complex US GAAP and statutory accounting issues, including providing company-wide leadership in the areas of accounting and account analysis
- Research and memorialize via memo the Company’s position relative to technical revenue recognition accounting topics as required for complex revenue transactions.
- Lead the preparation of audit schedules and prepare periodic revenue and deferred revenue reports to support internal and external reporting requirements
- Monitor the consistency and accuracy of revenue-related accounting reports and ledgers, and financial data provided by other teams
- Develop and maintain an environment of continuous process improvement, enhance, and streamline accounting and financial reporting processes as appropriate
Management Responsibilities

- Empower others to discover, connect, and grow by having healthy, candid conversations (Goals Setting, Performance Reviews,1:1s)
- Serve as mentor and peer coach to teammates
Other Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal departments to address customer inquiries or disputes
- Build relationships with key stakeholders (legal, revenue operations, sales, finance & strategy, etc.) to collaborate on non-routine transactions, new product offerings and process improvements.
- Support the accurate and timely completion of the consolidated audit and statutory audits
- Assist with annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes
- Serve as the Revenue Recognition subject matter expert relative to system upgrades and implementations
- Support and participate on revenue-related projects and M&A activity
- Lead and/or participate in key strategic initiatives and assist with other ad hoc projects
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Accounting/Finance
- CPA license, in active or active, or equivalent preferred
- 7+ years’ experience in corporate accounting, month-end close functions, including a minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience
- 5+ years’ experience leading a team to success
- 5+ years’ experience with software revenue recognition (SaaS, perpetual, services, bundled offerings, etc.)
- History working with global organizations and exposure to statutory requirements, as well as intercompany transactions
- Knowledge of US GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and internal control best practices
- Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in change and ambiguity
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to articulate verbally and written, debate, evaluate and document complex process issues, ability to think quickly and present to an audience
- High professional standards and personal and professional integrity
- Proven ability to work with minimal direction, as well as be resourceful and independent in solving problems and multi-task effectively
- Strong attention to detail along with the ability to see the big picture
- Excellent judgement and planning skills
- Expert level skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- Big 4 audit experience
- Experience with NetSuite and Salesforce
- Experience with BI tools like PowerBI, Tableau, and Mode a plus
