Full Job Description

Kennedy International School provides a bilingual, well-rounded education for its students from preschool through 12th grade. We pride ourselves on the strength of our faculty, the diversity of our student body, and our cultural richness. Through our individualized approach to instruction, thanks to our small student-teacher ratio, students are encouraged to leverage their personal strengths and passions as they develop their language and academic knowledge.

We are looking for a part-time Floater to join our Japanese School for our current school year on Saturdays, starting on March 8th, 2025. The ideal candidate will be compassionate and self-motivated as well as possessing the innate joy of working with young children. He/she will be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment.

The work schedule will be from 8am – 2:30pm on Saturdays.

This role reports into the Japanese School Manager.

Responsibilities

As a floater, you would provide support in many areas, including but not limited to:

1. Administrative Assistant

  • Schedule and organize meetings
  • Handle phone inquiries
  • Additional administrative support

2. Student Affairs

  • Manage the collection and maintenance of all student information: application, legal, academic, health, etc
  • Assist with online database (FACTS Student Information System), keep records current, check and follow-through on immunization records
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external school-related regulations

3. Teacher assistant

  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment
  • Work with the lead teacher to monitor the class schedule
  • Go over lesson material with students individually or in small groups
  • Ensure the classroom environment is safe, clean and tidy
  • Oversee students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, recess, and on-field excursions
  • Help lead teachers to create lesson plans

4. Events support

5. Tour guide for visitors

6. Cover the security desk

7. Assist with afterschool program where needed

8. Comply with state, school, and class rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field is preferred
  • Fluency in English and Japanese language required
  • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices
  • Must have a compassionate and positive attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities
  • Preferred candidate will have a current U.S. work visa, if applicable 

Benefits

The pay rate for this position is $26.25 per hour.
